Lemosho Route 7 day Despite being the only climber signed up on this trip, Oreta arranged my climb with a guide (Gabriel) and 5 crew. Excellent experience. The mountain is incredible and the crew really looked after me. Gabriel was very encouraging and knowledgable. A bucket list experience happily ticked off.

Kilimanjaro: Door-to-Door Amazing Support My wife and I organized a 7-day trip to climb Mount Kilimanjaro (via the Lemosho route). We did quite a lot of research, and Oreta stood out for two reasons: Firstly, they were a local Tanzanian business (from Moshi) and part of a local organization (KPAP) which enforced minimum standards of care (including remuneration) for porters. Secondly, because the (Tanzanian) company Directors live in the United States, their English was excellent - making email communications and arrangements easy and clear. Our positive first impression continued from the moment we were picked up in Arusha and taken to our hostel in Moshi, and then personally greeted by Lema (one of the owners) prior to leaving for Kilimanjaro. Now to the hike... my wife and I discussed this at length, and we honestly cannot think of any way the team (porters, guides & cook) could have done a better job. They were incredibly friendly and pleasant - always smiling and making sure we had everything we needed. The food was amazing (we were astounded by the quality and quantity - we initially thought food was going to be quite basic, but we were received daily banquets in our tent!). The two guides - Rama & Daud - were knowledgeable, patient, supportive, humble and also great to converse with (and learn a bit more about the mountain and the history of Tanzania and East Africa). There was not a moment during the trip that they did not prioritize us - they were 100% laser-focused on making sure the experience was what we wanted (while also making sure we were progressing at a pace that helped us acclimatize and increase our chances of reaching the peak). They were also very diligent in running daily tests and verbal checks to monitor how the altitude was affecting us during the trek. During the final ascent, they were encouraging and genuinely excited that we made it to the top. We have nothing but praise for the team - in every possible way. These guys work so hard - and deserve all the support (usually in the form of tips) they can get - so if you can afford, please give handsomely. Finally, after Summiting and coming down from the mountain, Lema (the owner) took us out to dinner to celebrate. He was kind enough to share some of his life stories and how his company supports the local community. The next day he dropped us off at the airport, always with a big smile on his face. Everyone we dealt with at Oretra was honest, reliable, and excellent in their job. We were VERY impressed and humbled by the experience – and would not hesitate to recommend them to friends and family.

Unforgettable Kilimanjaro adventure and safari! My dad, husband and I just recently returned from a 2-week trip to Tanzania, all organized through Oreta. Let me start out by simply saying how AMAZING Oreta and our trip was! Lema and Renalda (the owners of Oreta) were extremely responsive from day one and ensured all our questions were answered before we arrived. Oreta Adventures is a locally owned and operated company (meaning 100% of their revenue supports their local economy) and they are part of KPAP - an organization that supports socially responsible Kilimanjaro expeditions (e.g. fair wages for porters). These were two main reasons we chose them and I am so glad we did! For our Kilimanjaro climb, we chose the 7-day Lemosho route. We had 14 people supporting the three of us all the way: our two amazing guides Beatus and Peter, our outstanding cook ManX (I have never eaten such delicious soups in my life!), and our ever-so-strong and friendly porters Julius (also our waiter who ensured we had whatever we needed), Johnson (our camper who ensured we got the best camp sites by starting out earlier than the rest), Pius, Amadeus, Abel, Erasmus, Godfrey, Yuda, Hatibu, Hamza, and Bamo. Our crew honestly made our trip! We got to know so much about Tanzania, their culture and local customs, and they were the most supportive, friendly crew you could ever ask for! We went during the dry season but got unlucky with the weather whereby it rained or snowed 5 out of 7 days (be sure to bring rain gear and gaiters even if you are going during the dry season!). But, they never stopped smiling and encouraging us all the way! All three of us made it to the summit without any problems thanks to the amazing food and support we received. They are also very safety conscious and every night they checked our oxygen levels and heart rate and had us fill out a quick form to keep track of how we were doing each day. Despite it being much colder and wetter than any of us had anticipated we had a phenomenal time and were able to tick this great achievement off our bucket list! For our safari, we chose their 5-day trip. At this point in time my mum also joined us, and we had another fellow traveler come along who had just done the Kilimanjaro hike. For the five of us we had our two safari guides Kazi and Dickson and our chef George. Once again, the food was outstanding, and our guides were so knowledgeable and friendly. We saw so many lions and other wildlife up close. At one of our camps the hyenas and zebras even walked right past our tents while we were going to sleep! The only change I would make is that I wish we had spent two nights at each of the camps to make it a little more relaxing after our Kili hike. We are definitely hoping to come back one day to plan another trip with Oreta – and to hopefully see some of our porters have fulfilled their dream of becoming a guide themselves. Thank you Oreta!

GABRIEL AND ORETA TOUR Oreta adventures of Kilimanjaro provided me with their best guide, (Gabriel). As an “older” 60 year old Trekker my success wasn’t guaranteed. Gabriel and the crew of Oreta genuinely cared for my well being and I successfully summitted. We had 7 inches of snow dump on us at midnight when heading out on final day. Tough conditions which had other guides following Gabriel as he's so well respected. Can’t say enough about him. I’ve made some suggestions regarding food provided so that they can outstep the 750 or more guide companies and I hope they adopt some of the suggestions. I also hope that they do follow the guidelines and pay their staff the recommended salary. Finally. Oreta is a trustworthy guide company that will look after your needs well.

Safari and Kilimanjaro A friend and I booked a 4 day safari and a 7 day Lemosho trek up Kilimanjaro. We had a fantastic experience. Goodluck was our safari guide and he was very knowledgeable and was always very organized and prompt. We had a crew of 19 people to take 3 girls up Kili. We all made it to the summit with the help and encouragement of the whole team. The food was also delicious on both trips -- they were even able to cook vegan for us! We aren't expert trekkers, but we felt very safe and in good hands the whole time and I'd recommend Oreta to anyone.

A wonderful trip - once in a lifetime Our challenge was to climb both Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro our reward was a 3 day safari. Oreta provided its support, expertise, friendship and enthusiasm. Every member of our party of 5 achieved both summits thanks to Oreta's wonderful Guides and Porters. Oreta's tour consultants, Renalda and Lema, supported us throughout our trip planning, in regular contact by email as we developed our itinerary. Always great advice and prompt replies. Lema also cared for us on our days in Moshi, arranged the Hotel, transport to and from the airport and local excursions - this made the whole trip completely trouble free. Meru is a fantastic mountain. At 4566m it provides excellent acclimatisation. The views are spectacular - especially of Kilimanjaro. Wild life is abundant - giraffe, elephant, baboon, monkey, buffalo, zebra. The route is straightforward and the huts are in great condition. It is a great opportunity to get used to high altitude climbing and to get used to your kit. We chose to climb Kilimanjaro by the Rongai Route. It is the longest ascent and therefore the most successful. It is much quieter than the routes up the south side. It takes you to the foot of Mawenzi Peak and a camp by Mawenzi Tarn which is spectacular. We camped in tents provided by Oreta and ate wonderful Tanzanian food expertly cooked by Ramadani. The final day was hard - VERY hard - but all 5 of us reached the summit at 9 am after 8 hours of climbing and witnessed a wonderful dawn on the way up. Our Guides, Hebron, Gabriel and Beatus were fantastic. Clearly highly experienced, patient, kind and very safe. Our porters capable, competent, warm and friendly. Oreta is known to pay its porters very well and to support them in gaining qualifications - this was an important factor in our decision to use Oreta. We planned to see the Ngorogoro Crater Park, but Oreta advised us to visit Tarangeri Park as well. Thank you, Oreta, our closest and best wild life experiences were at Tarangeri and at Arusha Park around Meru. Oreta Adventures is based in Moshi. It is run by local people and employs local guides and porters. The company is competent, experienced and very safe. I cannot thank them enough.

Lovely guides and porters for a safe successful Kili Climb Oreta were great from the beginning - very responsive on email and very helpful. We were met at the airport (even though we came in on different flights) and straight away given a briefing by our guide about what to expect on the trek. The trek was well organised, very safety conscious and we couldn't have been treated better. We were cooked 3 meals a day, all delicious (and vegan by request) and were served in a tent with table to make it more comfortable, especially in windy campsites. We were provided with water at all times and were even given warm water to wash in at the end of every day. Can't recommend them highly enough, everyone was so helpful and they made our trek perfect.

Amazing Kili Climb & Safari! My parents and I recently climbed Kilimanjaro and did a Safari with Oreta. From the beginning, Renalda and Lema (the owners of the company) were very responsive, answering any questions we had. This really helped to reduce our worries and fears going into the climb. Once we arrived in Kilimanjaro, Renalda was at the airport to greet us and take us back to the hotel. Renalda and Lema arranged for a free coffee tour for us as we had a free day before we began our climb. We decided to do the Lemosho route to give us time to acclimatize. The route was absolutely beautiful and we would highly recommend it! We had a very supportive hardworking group to help us get to the top (2 guides, 1 cook, and 13 porters for the 3 of us). The food on the mountain was absolutely incredible- our cook Rama was fabulous- and we were well taken care of. We were fortunate that none of us experienced any severe altitude problems and we all were able to summit (ended up doing it in 7 days instead of the original plan of 8 days). Once we arrived back at the hotel, Lema came that evening to take us out for dinner. Lema and Renalda were so supportive and encouraging throughout our time in Tanzania. We then did a safari through Oreta, with our amazing guide Richard and cook 'China.' Our 4-day safari did not disappoint. We saw some amazing wildlife and Richard was super knowledgable! My parents and I were very satisfied with the service we received from Renalda and Lema. It was great to support a locally Tanzanian run company, especially one that treats their porters well and gives them a fair wage.

Oreta is a safe bet for your Safari and Climb I went with Oreta after researching about 14 companies. I was a solo-traveler, and Oreta was the only company that gave me a rate that I could afford on my own. My other options were to join large groups where I would have very little control over where we went and what we did. Renalda and Lema were amazing the entire time I was in Tanzania. Renalda met me at the airport and brought me to the Qwine hotel in Moshi. The next day I had an off-day and they arranged a free trip to a coffee plantation. I went with my climbing guide and we got to know each other. After making some coffee, we hiked to a waterfall and then returned to Moshi. The climb was well-organized and all of the porters and guides were fun and polite. Oreta is a part of a new program that will work to certify companies that pay porters fairly. Lema was once a porter and cares about how porters are treated and paid. Unfortunately, for many porters, they can not rely on being paid fairly by their tour companies. Oreta hopes to change this culture of exploitation. Issa, my guide, helped me reach the summit and was an able guide with excellent English. The food was great. Gear was reliable. The safari was my favorite part of the trip. It was just me, the guide, and a cook. We camped near Tarangire, in the Serengeti, and then at Ngorongoro. Bahati was very knowledgable about the animals and mostly enthusiastic. Being alone was great. I was able to search for leopards, saw two lion kills, and thousands of Wildebeest, and zebras, as well as hundreds of giraffes and elephants. We even saw a rhino at Ngorongoro. Again the food was good and all of the equipment was reliable. At the end of the trip, while I was staying in Arusha at a school, Lema and Renalda drove all the way from Moshi just to say good-bye and get my feed back about the trip. If you are looking to support a fairly new company run by good people, I suggest Oreta.

Three day safari with Seven day Kilimanjaro climb We had an absolutely incredible experience with Oreta Adventures. We were three girls in our twenties, two from the U.S. and one Australian. We literally can not think of one complaint about this company they were awesome since the first email. Lema and Renalda have done a wonderful job. They were professional, efficient, always in good communication, and always answered any questions we had. We did 3 days of safaris and the 7 days of the Kilimanjaro climb. We had some issues with our flight and lost luggage but Lema was flexible and helped us as much as he could by giving my friend new gear to use for the climb and rearranging our itinerary in case her bag showed up. He even sent a porter up with a new pair of shoes five days into our climb because the ones my friends borrowed were to small and she had horrible blisters! Everyone took such good care of us we were truly impressed with their professionalism and knowledge of the mountain. We felt like we were in very good hands the whole time. We were well fed, the food they can cook on the mountain was unbelievably good. Daudi, and Gabrielle were our guides and we truly think they were part of our success to the summit. That night was extremely challenging and they helped us so much all the way up. I have nothing but great things to say about this company and team. It seemed that Lema really knows to to treat his staff well and fair and that is what made it such a good experience for us. I would not hesitate for a second to recommend this company to my friends or anyone else interested in doing this trip. If you want a great experience in Tanzania go with Oreta Adventures!
